Vines 2 Wines Excursions
Thank you Mom!
by Suzanne VanderFeen on 01/27/12
I have always given my mom the credit for my abilities to pull and define components when smelling and tasting wine. I was very young when my mother lost her eyesight to a brain tumor and in the early 1970's Colbalt Treatment diminished her senses of taste and smell.
Despite her disability, she sensed she would have a short time on earth and wanted to teach me her love of cooking. Mom would instruct me as I cooked these dishes, then have me describe the smells and tastes to her. OH how she would laugh at some of my descriptions! Mom and I decided that we were the only two people in the world who loved the smell and taste of burnt popcorn.
This month, my mother would have turned 81 years old. I believe every time I intentionally burn popcorn for myself, my mom is smiling down from Heaven and enjoying SEEING me eat that popcorn!

Prayer Partners Come When You Least Expect Them
by Suzanne VanderFeen on 01/04/12
I was in a hurry again! Did I not just make a promise to myself to live and embrace the present? Rushing into the post office,I locked my car keys and phone in my car.
Walking home in the shoes I had on was not an option and everyone's phone number I knew in my head, was at work this time of day.
A gentleman leaving the post office asked me where I lived and offered me a ride home.
Now I know what you are thinking! How many times have I told Sarah, "Never take a ride from a stranger"?
Sometimes God places kind people in our paths too.
Jim Hoover talked about his good wife and church as he drove me to my home. He asked about what my husband did for a living and where we went to church.
Then he asked me for my hand as we drove the few miles left to my home. Jim and I prayed aloud, asking God to help us know when to trust and do things for ourselves. We prayed for healing for my father inlaw.
I am so grateful God placed this Christian in my path today. And I pray that Jim be blessed and continues to bless other people's lives. Amen

Aunt Nova
by Suzanne VanderFeen on 09/19/11
It is that time of year again! SEMO District Fair! Fun for all!
I had the pleasure of taking my almost 90 years old Aunt Nova to her first parade. She had never seen one other than on TV.
I explained that she was going to be IN the parade, riding in the Vines 2 Wines Shuttle Bus. She was very excited, and enjoyed every moment of the ride and waving at the children!
She was equally excited to hear that our Spiced Apple Wine received a second place award at the SEMO District Fair Wine Competition!
Thank you to all the judges for choosing our wine.
Hope to see everyone on the wine trail this year!

Old Dog New Tricks!
by Suzanne VanderFeen on 09/01/11
Yes! You can teach this old dog new tricks! I always tell my better half that he pays me to sit and do the computer work. That I do the Excursions for free! I have made no secret that I was website illiterate when we started Vines 2 Wines Excursions two years ago.Since the begining my computer(aka DMC,short for Driving Me Crazy) and I have a Love/Hate relationship. But DMC and I have a new relationship counselor named "Kyle".
Kyle is one of the newest and brightest stars at "Homestead" Intuit company. Kyle has taught me DMC's language,to touch DMC lightly,to be patient with DMC when he is slow to comprehend. That DMC needs ME!
Thank you Kyle for all your help! DMC and I see brighter days ahead!
